my mom used to have so many problems with her knees, even after having several surgeries a piece. She could not really take a lot of the "drugs" whether prescrip or otc, that this country has. The finally had enough and turned to alternative. She tried something natural that I used to help MY arthritis and gout as well. It is been a godsend our chiropractor told us about this.

There is a medication called " Pennsaid" that is an anti-inflammitory. It comes in drops and is applied directly to the knee. I believe its around 20-40 drops, 4x aday. The Dr prescribed it for my tendonitis, but I noticed all the directions on the bottle were for knee arthritis.

Naproxen/Naproxen sodium: relieves pain and inflammation.
Used for osteoarthritis.

Read you can't take aleve; so don't take naproxen. Your doctor can give you other prescriptions. Sounds like you can't take anything over the counter because you are mostly allergic to it. You may want to ask him about Celebrex.

CELEBREX relieves arthritis pain, stiffness, and inflammation. Just one 200-mg dose provides 24-hour relief.
In clinical studies, a lower percentage of patients on CELEBREX reported indigestion, abdominal pain, and nausea versus prescription ibuprofen and naproxen.
CELEBREX can also be used with low-dose aspirin. Other prescription NSAIDs aren’t generally recommended with aspirin.
Based on the available data, the FDA stated that, for certain patients, the benefits of CELEBREX outweigh the risks. But only you and your doctor can make that decision.

The only other thing you can do is see an orthopedic (bone docter). There are many other treatments. There are cortisone shots and other medications you can try. I suffer from back issues and thru med changes and therapy and shots I am a new women. I wish you luck

i used to work for an Orthopedic Dr. as an M.A.
Have you been to a doctor for this problem? if it bugging you that much you may have to see one. If you want to avoid the Doc I would use an Anti-inflammatory to get rid of some of the discomfort. Also, i would get an ace wrap to go around your knee to keep it more stable. An orthopedic doctor may order a special brace for you if needed.

hmm okay. i would call back the doctor and ask him what he thinks you should do then, because you are obviously in pain, P.T. and a brace may be the best for you then. If you can stand shots, or are not allergic to Cortisone then i would get the shot. The last resort is a total knee replacment depending how old you are, but you shouldnt have to need that! =)

I wish you the best of luck

Motrin or any other anti-inflamatory drug, such as Aleve. Keep up with the ice, try to elevate it also after you pop it back in to further reduce the swelling. I would certainly tell your doctor as well. Good luck.

You may want to visit a rheumatologist to assist you with this because arthritis can be crippling and if gone untreated for long periods of time can cause severe problems in your joints. There are several anti-inflammatories on the market that can assist with the pain and perhaps some physical therapy. Contact your local physician and hopefully, he will be able to help you or refer you to a rheumatologist.

i've had arthritis for a while, and i'm only 17 years old. best thing i've found for it is to wrap it in a bandage and rub something called deepheat onto it :)
