noooooo! and NOOOOOOOOOOOOO it doesn’t hurt.

  • RayeKaye:

Ultrasound treatments are just sound waves stimulating the muscles and passage. The discomfort may be stemming from the areas rushing blood to the area to start the healing process.

I’d certainly question your chiropractor about it to be sure, though.

  • neo.cool:

no it does cause any problems
it is just waves like radio wave, etc.

Sometimes a treatment will leave you suspicion a modest worse in the beginning. I had the same therapy on my wrist for tendonitis it took a couple sessions before it ongoing suspicion better. The flinching is normal. I used some ice packs later in the day, question your PT if you can.

Really, US has come under much srutiny. Reviewing the scientific literature, one will find the following on therapeutic ultrasound:

    1. US does not decrease inflammation, in fact, its has been establish to increase plasma extravasation which is a process of inflammation. The implication here is that it has the potential to increase inflammatio.

    2. It does not reduce spasticity

    3. It does not reduce scar bandanna

    4. A study that performed sonnation on cadavers establish that temperature changes at specific depths was not as predictable as previously plotting. The implication of this is that it may be simpler to burn someone than previously plotting.

    5. Realistically, it’s been establish to have a high rate of placebo effect and establish to have very modest therapeutic regard.

So to answer your question, yes it has the potential to worsen your problem by causing burns or increasing inflammation. In the end, it’s efficacy has yet to be proven.
