What is the procedure for handcuffing adults with rheumatoid arthritis shoulder or other joint damage?
I аm especially interested іח wһаt happens tο suspects wіtһ frozen shoulder syndrome wһο аrе being arrested.
I reckon a better question is how do you handcuff some one with only one arm
there are other means that may be use it depends on alot of things…..payment.are you a danger to officer or others? [criminal act]or are you polite and respectful and cool……two sets of cuffs can give go re lacked behind back cuff….or if their equipment is such they may have belly-chain that would allow hands in front connected at tummy,,,,hope you never need this information…..be safe……..
Whether they have an impairment, loss of motion or only one arm, the individual still has to be immobilized.
Numerous sets of cuffs linked collectively will restrict the movement. Belly chains around the waist with one or both hands cuffed to the belly chain is perfectly allowable.
The main point is to prevent the inmate from being able to attack. But it can still be done in many ways that will not injure the person and can accomodate their disability.
I hope this helps and you can find it useful
No procedure. I place the handcuffs on. A shape up is not known until the person is screaming in pain or sweating and grunting. I’m putting cuffs on because there is a damned excellent reason. I could honestly care less about a joint or muscle pains when I’m cuffing someone. I’m thinking about safety, not their medical problems.
a person with such an injury should do everything he can, knowing he has such a injury, to avoid doing something that will require him to be place in cuffs.
Once that need arises, cops are not Dr’s. You get place in cuffs for everyones safety. If accomodations can be made, they may do it, if not, you suffer.
there arent any they just do it they would proubly reckon the person with frozon sholder was resisting
You handcuff them, maybe take some additional time to ensure they are comfortable. If your department allows, maybe cuff them in the front. This is all conditional, if they do not comply, then they get NO special treatment. The fact ism they need to be restrained before being paid into my car. If not, I may have a nice 2 week vacation without pay, and I don’t like vacations.
