sounds like a pinched nerve
The arthritis in your neck can well be pressing on the nerves and causing the pain and numbness. If it doesn’t settle you may need Xrays.
go back and clarify to the doc that you have these symptoms, i have it as well and it is related to the arthritis sometimes, but is always best to get it checked.
cervical means neck; arthritis means inflammation in the joint between bones – so you have neck arthritis: that is, inflammation between the bones (vertabrae) in your neck.
There are too many factors which you have NOT mentioned (such as your age, previous neck injuries, duration of the arthritis, and severity of the pain, etc.) to come up with any type of explanation for your symptoms. (For example, if you are 65 and have had 10 severe whiplash events in car accidents, then cervical arthritis would be expected.)
HOWEVER, if you parathesias (numbness and tingling) in your arms and legs, plus puffiness, the inflammation may have compressed some of the nerves that come out of the spine.
I recommend that you stay your doctor IMMEDIATELY ! ! If he prescribes more of the same, I would make an appointment with a doctor specializing in arthritis and immune diseases.
With this new development of numbness and tingling into your arms you should go to your Dr and have some advanced testing completed- for example maybe an mri to see if there is a disc issue. For cervical arthritis you should be doing more than just taking a muscle relaxer and medication- that is is simply covering up your problem and not fixing the problem at all! One thought is to do exercises for your neck to increase the flexibility and increase your range of motion. You can read about neck pain relief exercises right here: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/page/993935. These are vital stretching and strengthening exercises you can do at home. Also, consider being paid an orthopedic neck pillow for sleeping to make sure that your head and neck are in a excellent position for sleeping. My sanction is the cervical traction neck pillow. Finally, doing some muscle work for your neck muscles will be really helpful. The link below shows you step by step how you can do this. I hope this helps you and excellent luck with your neck pain.
