2 things come to mind. Do you sleep on your side? Maybe the way you are sleeping is causing cramping. Or have you considered that the tightness in your chest is nervousness?

Sounds like something going on in the back. When you are having back pain it can cause the muscles to go into spasm and that can effect the entire trunk. Try going to a chiropractor. I was hesitant to go to one at first but after I did I was hooked. It feels as if someone has lubricated your entire spine and movement is just so much simpler.

    HI,
I have also had that kind of pain right through my adult life. I establish out that it was a twist in my spine causing all that pain in my back and chest. When your spinal nervs are pinched in that area if affects your ribs and sternum too. You may want to consider a excellent chiropractic adjustment, you may be pleasantly surprised at how incredible you feel afterwards!!

Krissy, of course I have to say that I am not a doctor, but I have paid for plenty of vacations fo the bahamas!

I had a terrible auto accident a couple of years ago that ruptured 16 discs…what you are describing sounds like an issue in the t3 or t4 vertebrae. And the pains in your chest sound like muscle spasms from the same area.

An MRI should point headed for a problem in the Thoracic area…the first time i had the pain in my hest I just knew I was having a heart attack!

Its excellent that you quit smoking if you have issues with your back…cigarette smoking interferres with the oxygen absorption in the spine. See a doctor and i bet he will confirm that you aren’t having heart attacks! I have about 5 a day, which are calmed by antispasmotics or muscle relaxers, rumination and relaxation.

    GOOD LUCK!
