Get yourself to the emergency room asap! It might be a deeper issue! It is better to be safe than sorry!

Inflammatory Arthritis: Rheumatoid Arthritis. The puffiness may arrive later, with numb toes and tingling could be a nerve problem, therefore see a Doctor.

The popping can mean a ligament injury. You should probably use the RICE method of treatment.

Rest: Resting an injury is vital immediately after injury.

Ice: Use a cold pack, crushed ice or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel to grant cold. An ice massage is also helpful. Cold helps with pain relief and limits puffiness by reducing blood flow to the injured area. Never apply ice directly to the skin (unless it is moving as in ice massage) and never leave ice on an injury for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Compression: Compression helps limit and reduce puffiness, and sometimes helps with pain relief. You can use an ACE bandage. If you feel throbbing, or if the wrap feels too tight, remove the bandage and re-wrap it a modest looser.

Elevation: Elevating an injury help control puffiness. It’s most effective when the injured area is raised above the level of the heart. For example, if you injure an ankle, try lying on your bed with your foot propped on one or two pillows.

You should probably check with your doctor.
