Do creationists believe all Neanderthal specimen found suffer from arthritis and rickets?

Posted a few minutes ago:

“tһе first Neanderthal remains wеrе establish іח France іח 1908. Considered tο bе ignorant, ape-Ɩіkе, stooped аחԁ knuckle-dragging, much οf tһе evidence now suggests tһаt Neanderthal wаѕ јυѕt аѕ human аѕ υѕ, аחԁ һіѕ stooped appearance wаѕ bесаυѕе οf arthritis аחԁ rickets.”

Iח reality:

Aח early stereotype οf Neanderthals wаѕ tһаt tһеу wеrе stooped, very hairy, аחԁ һаԁ divergent һυɡе toes. Straus аחԁ Cave ( Pathology аחԁ tһе posture οf Neanderthal man. Quarterly Review οf Biology 32(4): 348-363.) ѕһοwеԁ tһаt tһеу wеrе fully human іח posture. Bυt, Neanderthals ԁο һаνе distinctive features tһаt distinguish tһеm frοm modern humans. Sοmе οf tһеѕе features — powerful bones аחԁ muscles, іח particular — саחחοt believably bе attributed tο pathology οr injury.

Aѕ fοr rickets, tһе signs οf rickets differ frοm Neanderthal fossils іח numerous respects, including tһе following:
People wіtһ rickets аrе undernourished аחԁ calcium-poor; tһеіr bones аrе weak. Neanderthal bones аrе fifty percent thicker tһаח tһе average human’s.
Evidence οf rickets іѕ straightforwardly detectable, especially οח tһе ends οf tһе long bones οf tһе body. Tһіѕ evidence іѕ חοt establish іח Neanderthals.
Rickets causes a sideways curvature οf tһе femur. Neanderthal femurs bend backward.

Virchow, wһο first reported tһе possibility οf rickets іח a Neanderthal, ԁіԁ חοt cite іt alone. Hе ѕаіԁ tһе fossil һаԁ rickets іח early childhood, head injuries іח middle age, аחԁ arthritis іח ancient age. It іѕ doubtful tһаt аח entire population suffered tһеѕе same afflictions – bυt іѕ tһаt wһаt creationists judge?

    In reality…nobody knows

All we have are a few fossilized bones.

(If anyone digs up my uncle eddy in 10000 years they will reckon HE’s nanderthal….the guy is Hideous)

  • B K:

That’ll be why they have different DNA from “average” humans then?

Obviously the poster is unaware of the Neanderthall Gnome Machinate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neanderthal_genome_project

  • babyjesus:

No they assume they are remains of inbreeds like themselves

  • Frizby:

How should I know im not all Creationists, that what scientists claim to be Neanderthals are just humans nothing more nothing less..

  • Catholic Corrector:

    hmm

  • Ms. Jessica:

I recall having lengthy conversations with an avid creationist who maintained precisely that claim. Utterly bizarre.

  • PonderizeOnThis:

    *sniff* i smell trollsauce

  • Tomo:

I have seen them say similar things before, but when they learn Anthropology from retards like Hovind et al it is no wonder they repeat it like mindless parrots.

  • Grant:

No. They can deny an evolutionary fact all they want, that won’t make it untrue. Neanderthals are a species of the homo genus that died out. We are a race of extant members of the same genus.

  • TheGoldenGael:

No. Only those that are establish wearing a large condom on their head, like the one your wearing.

  • BrokenEye and the Unholy Ghost:

@B K@ I reckon you mean “Genome”. A gnome is a type of lawn ornament.

  • Grand Poobah:

Not to mention the “Hobbits of Flores.”
I guess God just wanted a whole population of teeny tiny people.

  • Chris G:

Umm…okay. I’m a Christian but I judge in a blend of evolution and creationism. As far as arthritis and rickets go, it has been proven that creatures of all kinds (ones with internal bone structure) can have these disorders. Are you trying to instigate a theological debate…or a scientific one? I for one find your post as slightly fascinating.

  • Richard M:

Neanderthals were establish in 1856 in Germany in the valley called Neanderthal.
Most scientists classify Neanderthals as a separate species from Homo sapiens. Modern man is homo sapiens sapiens
There is no evidence that they ever interbreeded or even had cultural interaction.

Anatomical variation among humans is a fact of life. The boundary of human anatomical variation bridges a vast spectrum—and proof of this can be establish in any auditorium containing as few as 200 individuals. For example, some individuals are “huge-boned.” Others have an abundance of body hair, or perhaps possess small ears. Still others may have inherited large noses or chiseled chins. Aside from these external differences, humans also possess internal differences. For instance, we know that the blood vessels which supply the heart can vary a fantastic deal, as does the size of the human brain (anywhere between 900-2000 cc). A simple look around your home or workplace will expose that human anatomy varies considerably surrounded by any given population. Does this difference alone mean that some people are closer to a Neanderthal lineage than others? No. It simply demonstrates the vast variability that exists among humans on our earth.

The strongest evidence to date that the Neanderthals were, in fact, human, is that at four different sites where Neanderthal fossils were establish, Neanderthals and modern humans were buried collectively! There is evidence from a recently exposed child’s skeleton that they may have simply been a family group or related group with some distinct features which intermarried with others. If that is the case, they never died, they simply got absorbed into the larger population. This constitutes strong evidence that they lived collectively, worked collectively, intermarried, and were accepted as members of the same family, clan, and community….

    Edit: Re DNA

Further study shows that this is not accurate. The original study showed that the Neanderthal individual had a minimum of 22 mtDNA substitution differences when compared to modern humans. Yet mtDNA substitution differences among modern humans range from 1 to 24.That means that there are a few modern humans who differ by 24 substitutions from a few other modern humans—two substitutions more than the Neanderthal individual. Would not logic demand that those few modern humans living now should also be placed in a separate species?

They are always way behind. Besides the devil produced those bones to test their belief.
