No you best not pick the narcotics
Hi Michael. I am a retired Chiropractor. Chiropractors do NOT prescribe drugs. They do but, work to diagnose the CAUSE of symptoms like you may be having. Treating the cause is usually a much better approach than masking symptoms with perilous drugs.
Your medical doctor will probably NOT prescribe potentially addictive pain meds for your shape up.
Who diagnosed your “carpal tunnel” and by what type of testing? What type of arthritis do you have and how was it diagnosed? 50% of carpal tunnel diagnoses are incorrect. And, arthritis is a generic term that is regularly over-used and therefore, has modest meaning without seminal the type of arthritis and its underlying cause.
Best wishes and excellent luck.
They will probably try other meds first. If they don’t work, they will probably give you a narcotic. Dr.s don’t like prescribing them, but they also don’t want their patients to be in pain. I have a slipped disc. They tried many things with me. I did find a non narcotic that works, but with the quantity of pain that I am in, I am not able to take the quantity of this non narcotic to relieve the pain enough. So they also prescribed me percocet. Depending on how much pain your in they may do the same for you. Remember, each Dr. is different. If the meds that they give you don’t work, and your dr. doesn’t want to give you anything else, try a different Dr. Chronic pain can make your life a living hell. You need to find a Dr. who really understands and cares about the pain you are experiencing.
Sometimes they do, it largely depends on the doctor, but ultimately, taking narcotics is generally not a excellent thought for everyday pain. It is very simple to become chemically dependent, which can lead to taking other medications.
I would also advise against considering a chiropractor, as there is a lot of evidence showing they cause more harm then excellent, while there is zero scientific evidence to support their effectiveness.
Instead, I would focus on intake healthily and preforming regular low impact exercises, which your doctor can help you with.
I know it hurts, but using pain medication only treats a symptom and not the cause, so when you take into tab the risks associated with using narcotics, it is seldom worth it.
