She should have the doctor rule out Lupus as the cause of this pain. It is a simple blood test called “ANA”. If it is Lupus, the management is different.
For fibromylagia…
1. plenty of rest
2. warmth – avoid cold, it causes muscles to tighten up which can add to the pain of fibromyalgia
3. stretches – they help keep the muscles from tightening up from pain and causing the pain to get worse and last longer. The type of stretch would depend on where the pain is. Excellent books on stretching with pictures can be establish at the bookstore or library.
4. massages – these also help work out tight muscles. I recommend finding someone at a PT office or spa who is trained and expereinced in helping people with sports injuries. You can question if they have someone with that training at a spa near you. Massages are also relaxing which helps.
My Mom has it too and I did some research online and establish some things for her to do that help ease the pain.
1. Yoga really helps but a mild form of yoga and not with extreme postures.
2. Light weight lifting with small dumb bells.
3. Acupuncture
4. Supplements you can buy at any drugstore or even wal mart, like Omega 3 fish oil capsules are really excellent for joint pain. They help with depression too.

Marijuana. Sorry to say it. XD I have fibro too and there isn’t a lot that helps. Lots of rest, massages, long baths… And having someone nice to vent to when everything sucks.

Eat a healthful diet. Eat less carbohydrates and more protein. A vegan diet (includes no animal products) that is also low in salt may help women with fibromyalgia. Primarily fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and cereals (such as rolled oats) should be consumed. The diet must also control numerous fermented foods, including a fermented yogurt-food made from oats, a fermented drink made from wheat berries (called Rejuvalac), and numerous types of fermented vegetables, particularly cabbage. With this, you should certainly experience a significant reduction in body weight, pain, morning sickness, use of painkillers, depression, and the number of sore fibromyalgia points, compared with those who take up again to eat their regular diet. Due to the liberal use of nuts and seeds, this diet is not low in stout.
Researchers have exposed that certain neurotransmitters such as serotonin, which controls mood, sleep patterns, and pain, are very low in fibromyalgia patients. Apparently disturbances in brain chemistry are to blame for the changes that occur in muscle structure and metabolism in those distress from Fibromyalgia.
Currently there are no drugs approved by the U.S Food and Drug Administration to treat Fibromyalgia although there are a few currently being developed.
Doctors mainly aim to treat symptoms of Fibromyalgia with the following types of medications:
– Eat soft foods high in flavonoids (such as fruits and vegetables) to grant antioxidants to decrease joint pain.
– Avoid saturated fats and fried foods as they increase inflammation.
– Do not take huge bites; rather cut your food into smaller pieces, so you don’t have to overwork your jaw.
