  • I was recently diagnosed with mild scoliosis, and I’ve been searching for a yoga DVD that could help relieve my chronic back pain. I’ve tried numerous different DVDs, and was pleasantly surprised by Healing Yoga for Aches and Pains. This program is both gentle and effective, and is well suited for those with mild or moderate pain (particularly neck, back, and shoulder). The postures are simple, but in combination with the breathing exercises, they greatly reduced my lower back pain. The instructors are very conscious of the fact that most viewers will need to go slowly, and frequently encourage you to go at your own pace. For those with previous yoga experience, this program may not be challenging enough; but, I establish that if I focused on my breath and deepened the stretch, the difficulty increased. I would certainly recommend this yoga program for pain relief, especially for those new to yoga or with impaired flexibility.

  • I’ve been practicing yoga with videos for some time now, and I plotting that this would be a relaxing exercises which would help with my frequent headaches. But, I exposed that the video is more focused towards bodily aches and pains–namely neck pain, back pain, arthritis, or injuries. For someone distress from one of those conditions and who has only a limited range of motion, this DVD could be very useful. It is a led my a husband and wife team, Charles and Lisa Matkin, and broken into three 10 minutes sections. The first, in which Lisa demostrates and Charles provides voiceover, is a series of seated poses on a chair with a strong emphasis on breathing. Charles leads the second part with Lisa’s voiceover; this part includes gentle standing postures using the chair for help. In the final part, Lisa again leads, this time demonstrating a series of floor poses for relaxation. Anyone who has some prior experience with yoga is likely to find these practices to be much too simple, but for those who are absolute beginners and/or those who have chronic pain, this DVD could be beneficial.

  • While I would not reccomend this to someone who is 100% healthful but looking for an “simple” or “Beginner” tape I would, and HAVE reccomeded it to many people who, like me have issues with chronic pain!

I live with chronic pain from a shape up that is currently unresoulable, but it is treatable! This is a HUGE part of my treatment! If you have distress moving your body without pain (or even have pain when not moving) one of the best ways to help that pain is to re-teach your body right ways to go and to gently stretch it out when it needs it.

Not only do I do this tape nearly each day ( I do have other routines that I like as well, so I switch them around a modest so as not to get bored) but I also used the positions that I’ve learned from the tape during my day. If I feel my back or neck being paid tight then I stop what I’m doing and do a few poses and the pain gets a modest better. It has been an invaluable tool

Besides the 3 sections that it is broken up into at the end of the 3rd part ( they are small enough that on your excellent days you can do all 3 collectively or chjoose which you want to do by the way) there is a fantastic relaxation that I regularly skip to when I feel stressed out or when I need to unwind before bed. To me it would have been worth the price just for the benefits that end relaxation has given me!

As you can tell I really can’t say enough about this DVD and I can’t wait to see if theor other is as excellent “common conditions” which I’m charitable for myself for a modest Christmas gift.

I’ve had this dvd for at least 2 years I reckon and I would never be without it, whne people question to borrow it I let them have it for a couple of days and then have to buy them one of their own so I can get mine back!!!! :-)

ALso to the woman with headaches, I have seen my own headaches get a lot better since using this, and when I skip it for awhile because I reckon that “life is too busY” to take care of for myself I see them come back! You might want to try the tape for awehile and see if over a couple of weeks it helps since a lot of headaches can be because, or at the very least made worse by underlying musle tension. Also and relaxation routine always helps with any health problem and this routine is very relaxing, but also energizing too.

Excellent luck, I hope this helps everyone as much as it’s helped me.

  • I am extremely weak and achy due to chronic illness. While I can’t (yet) do the entire video, I have establish that the part I am able to do is helpful to relieve some of my pain. It is simple enough for the weak and ill to do at least a part of the video. I would highly recommend it for others with chronic fatigue syndrome or fybromyalgia.

  • After trying other “level 1-beginner” yoga tapes, I was hesitant to try another. This routine is so relaxing and gentle. I didn’t have to contort my body into circ du soleil (?) positions! It is a perfect addition to the pain management program I am in for myofacial pain syndrom, fibromyalgia and TMJ disorders that have been radiating into my neck and back. I felt so relieved after using this program. I would certainly recommend this and others by these particular instructors.
