    Hi,

I am a physical therapist. Arthritis can be caused by a number of factors including overuse, previous injury/trauma, and systemic diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis is an example of a systemic disease that affects multiple joints of the body. Osteoarthritis generally affects only one joint. One thing that has not been associated with arthritis is cracking of jonts.

Treatment for arthitis can include medication, exercise, supplements, and dietary changes. Exercise is vital as muscles act as shock absorbers thus strengthening exercises are vital. Be careful with high impact exercises such as in succession or jumping.
