Hi there
sorry to hear about your pain. I see your mother has been diagnosed with both rheumatoid arthritis AND fibromyalgia. wow. Has she been tested for lyme disease. Lyme disease has been establish in MANY MANY MANY cases to cause rheumatoid arthritis and fibromalgia. Widespread muscle and bone pain is one of the most common symptoms of lyme disease
you and your mother need to both get checked for lyme disease. and its co infections bartonella, babesia, and erlichia.
you can both get treated for lyme with antibiotics and get better. Although you can go to a regular MD . you must go to a Lyme Literate Doctor, or if not known as an LLMD.
GOOD LUCK
Pain pills is not treatment sickness like Fibromyalgia. Exist too natural and herbal treatment. I was distress CFIDS, Fibromyalgia 13 years, but last 4 years I feel excellent, I find treatment http://www.cfids.info
Your experience so far sounds similar to mine, though it doesn’t sound like you have been diagnosed with FM yet and I would urge you not to self-diagnose. Though it is possible that you have FM there are a number of conditions that are frequently confused with FM. Though I’ll be honest with you to me it does sounds like FM.
My pain treatment was as follows:
At the beginning when the pain was completely debilitating I was prescribed narcotics to get through daily life. Narcotics are not considered a long term treatment but. I had to take them for nearly 8 months and that whole period of time is a blurr.
After my diagnosis was complete I was prescribed amitryptaline which is an anti-depressant prescribed nearly exclusively for pain and sleep control now. It has worked wonders on both my sleep and pain even on the low dose of 12 mg/day. Some people are taking 100, 200 even 300mgs a day.
If you are diagnosed with FM know that the shape up is completely benign, it has been cured (though in a very small percentage of sufferers) and with genteel life style choices and potentially medication (depending on your personal preference) like can return to something like normal.
Excellent luck
